Awards and Charities

There is one thing I'm probably the most proud of — giving time to those who need our help. To be honored by a charity is a great tribute. For those that I have received I can only humbly say, thank you. However, it's not the awards that really matter, it's the reward of knowing that you've helped a child, a family or even your town.

I have worked on behalf of several organizations and charities — HeartShare has always been #1. Over 20 years ago I began my association with them when I inquired to ask whether the cast and crew of AW could help out with Christmas gifts for the children.

I am now on the Board of Directors. Celebrating its 97th year, HeartShare assists nearly 30,000 at over 65 locations in the NY greater metropolitan area. I'm particularly proud of The Attardi Home in Brooklyn, an adult residential facility named in honor of my husband Frank's family.

At our Annual Spring Gala, The Linda Dano Heart Award is bestowed upon dedicated, selfless members of the Entertainment Community who are generous and dedicated to improving the lives of children.

Honorees include: Rosie O'Donnell, John Edward, Barbara Walters on behalf of The View, Irish Tenor Ronan Tynan, Susan Lucci, Cameron Mathison, Barbara Feldon, Tamara Tunie, Robert S. Woods and ABC's One Life To Live.
